My new go-to for those loooong days cranking. The fabric is incredibly light, and doesn't bunch up over my knee pads. The waist cinch system works well, too.
I was pleasantly surprised by the pedal-abilty of this short. Insanely light, stretchy, and the pocket orientation is spot-on for riding. I am in love with these babies. They have become by go-to summer short for long pedals. It feels like you're not wearing anything.
Riding in these makes you wonder why MTB shorts have been overbuilt for so many years. Crazy lightweight and minimalist, but everything you need in an MTB short. Finally a short that isn't super baggy, and the zipper-less waist band is really comfortable. Pockets are in the right places, not to close to the hip. Easy cinch waist adjustments are low-profile and effective, no more annoying velcro that gets stuck to your tech tee. Awesome riding shorts!
MTB baggies are a lot like the offensive linemen on your favorite football team: if you don't notice they are there, they are doing their job PERFECTLY. And that is exactly how these new Strafe Ridgeline shorts operate. I'd been struggling to find riding shorts with the right fit: most are too long so they hang near the knees, and for those that aren't too long, they are too baggy around the quads. In addition, many shorts start out with a decent fit around the waist, but after an hour of riding, they feel like they are barely staying up. Not the Ridgeline. These things fit FANTASTIC. Short but not so short that your bib liners poke out of the bottom, and snug around the thighs so you don't flap in the breeze as you pedal. And with NO snaps/zipper/whatever, but rather a full elastic band around the wait, they fit just as well two hours into my first ride as they did when I first slipped them on. Combine that with their low weight, and honestly, you forget you're riding them when you pedal, and isn't that what we're all looking for in a baggie? Add in the unique light blue color, and these will be my go-to shorts from this point on.
