I've been on the lookout for a new snow shell for the past year and discovered Strafe through a close friend of mine who recommended I take a look at their shells. This is my first Strafe piece and this thing is burly, yet very comfortable and super well designed with practical snow sports features. To be clear, I haven't had a chance to test this wile skiing yet, but I will soon. I really like the integrated inner sleeve cuffs are a great idea and I am anxious to test them out as my arms get cold sometimes. I'm hoping the cuffs will help keep the heat in and the wind out. I am replacing another high-end shell that cost a good bit more, but I feel like the Strafe Nomad is better thought out and more robust. The only thing that threw me off was the sizing, but that may be due to the fit. I'm 5'11" / 170 lbs and originally bought a medium and it was super baggy on me. I ordered a small and just tried it and its fit is spot on with the competing brand's medium, but maybe a touch more room, which is what I was looking for. Kinda wish Strafe made a "schmedium." I will follow up once I get this shell out in the wild. Nicely done, Strafe.
This jacket checks all the boxes for me as a do-it-all shell. I spend half of my time in the resort and the other half touring which means I ask a lot of my gear. I want it to be waterproof, warm, packable, have pockets in the right places (a stylish fit). So far, this jacket has proven itself in all of these categories. When I'm inbounds, I'll pair it with a micro puffy (I also picked this up from Strafe) and I end up toasty all day. While touring, it packs down nice and small in my bag and has big pockets on the front that fit my skins for the descent. Above all, the fit and style get an A+. Exactly what I've been looking for! 5'9 160lbs for reference. Medium fits great. If I wanted to go for a baggier look Large would've probably worked just fine as well.
The Nomad pant/jacket combo is unbeatable, generally, I'm pretty rough on my gear and the jacket/ pants have been able to take whatever I've thrown at em! Between the comfort and durability, you can't go wrong
I have worn Flylow for many years and switched to Strafe a 2 years back. The quality and durability of Strafe was very noticeable. Very happy I made the switch!
Bought it late spring. Haven’t been able to field test yet. It fits great and is well designed and made. Ski season can’t come soon enough!
